As consortium, Conartev aims at reading the territory, its history, and the traditional material, in order to perform the handicraft of the region in a modern and up-to-date manner. In other words, following the treasure of knowledge the old master craftmen left to the present generation, Conartev

strive to turn the handicraft of the region to a current and dynamic concept,

thanks to the support of the research and the interaction with design.

In order to give life to this idea, Conartev master craftmen posited as masterpiece of their work ten principles:

- Research among the traditional handicraft of Valtellina and Valchiavenna in order to bring back to light traditional items, which can be revitalized through design and innovation;

- Favor the collaboration among artists craftmen;

- Create new product collections, which are aligned with current needs of housing and living;

- Create handicraft products which can be directly linked to wine and food world of Valtellina and Valchiavenna;

- Create a network of master craftmen in order to better face the market needs;

- Network on the Internet the production of the “new handicraft”;

- Create new market opportunities;

- Promote target actions in order to allow “Made in Valtellina and Valchiavenna” products to become well known on the national and international market;

- Give birth, in collaboration with institutions and associations, to initiatives aimed at promoting the production of artistic and quality handicraft;

- Develop a relationship with the school world, in order to involve young people in didactic projects concerning handicraft and encourage possible new

craftmen among students. In fact, Conartev aims at being a point of reference for the improvement of the traditional handicraft of Valtellina and Valchiavenna.
